About the event

The Destructive Force of Retaliation

When you've been hurt by your partner, the urge to strike back can feel almost irresistible. Maybe it's a cutting remark, withdrawing affection, bringing up old mistakes, or making sure they feel the same pain you've experienced. In the moment, retaliation can feel justified—even necessary. But while it may provide temporary satisfaction, it rarely leads to understanding, accountability, or healing. Instead, it fuels a cycle of hurt, and over time trust erodes and the distance between the two of you may seem insurmountable.

In this 90-minute workshop, you'll learn why retaliation is often a protective response to feeling wounded, rejected, or powerless. Rather than helping your partner understand your pain, retaliatory behaviors usually deepen defensiveness, resentment, and emotional distance. You'll discover how to interrupt this destructive cycle and replace revenge with responses that promote accountability, repair, and genuine connection.
